At the time work began on the upcoming Drop + Grell headphones, Drop and Axel Grell were showing off their first collaboration – the wireless TWS1X – at the New York CanJam show. Behind the scenes Axel had been working on his next concept to develop and the discussion evolved into Drop asking Axel to create a version exclusively for its Audiophile members. Axel himself was, of course, already well known among this crowd for the sound of the highly popular wired headphones he developed while working at Sennheiser. So, the pursuit began to create the ideal-performing Axel Grell wired headphone with the most open-back design possible.

The headphone was to originally share many of the same parts as his starting concept, such as the headband and most of the earcups. As development progressed it was decided that rather than design a headphone which could lead to two models it was better to optimize the design for one to maximize its performance. This led to a complete redesign of the headphone—into what became the Drop + Grell Signature Edition.
To celebrate Axel’s first full-sized headphone under his own brand we decided to make things a little more special by making this limited edition as a nod to the discerning tastes of the Audiophile community. How is the Signature Edition special? We’ll share more details in our upcoming Studio Stories. In the meantime, please enjoy the below interview of Axel Grell hosted by the one and only Jude Mansila of Head-fi.org. This interview was recorded after CanJam NYC 2023.

So... How's everyone enjoying their Drop+Grell Signature Headphones? I haven't seen any reviews nor have I seen any on the used market. So everyone loves them so much they won't sell them, yet not enough to rave about them? Odd (especially for this hobby).
So for those of you who were willing to buy something sight unseen, unheard, and without a single review (I'm too tight with my money), how are you enjoying your purchase? Tell the rest of us if we should be trying to track down a used one (and how)? And if it is really, really, good, are you willing to sell it to me and for how much?
I'm looking forward to these headphones, and contrary to my usual practice, I think I'm going to buy them deafly. Clearly Grell wants to do something different, so I wanna experience it without expectation or bias.
It better have duel 3.5mm Headphone Connectors And at least 50ohms Or better yet makes it a 300ohm Headphone and 100db Sensitivity so it works wonderfully with tubes
Good call on making it a limited edition. That way people have to purchase it before any reviews come out and before it's flaws are fully revealed (and before it's more or less abandoned like the TWS1X was?).
No matter what they cost. Who cares? I won't be ripped off twice. Once 199$ (TWS1X) for the garbage can, that's enough. There is no more trust. No updates, no service. Ridiculous!
Though it's tiny, it manages to power even high ohm headsets with amazing accuracy. It works great with the drop usb-c to usb-c and my Phillips shp-9600. Soon enough I'll be using the Akoustyx...
I have an external amplifier with no integrated DAC and I only have an xduo xa10 as a dac/amp can I use the xduo xa10 as a dac only with an external amplifier?
So I bought the HD6xx a few weeks back and when I finally got the packages i got some Noir 99. ever happened to any of u guys and how did it get resolved
