Brunton Pocket Transit Compasses
Actually you are better off buying a 20 - 35 dollar compass (Suunto, Brunton, other brands) from your local outdoor store. (I prefer REI since I get 10% dividend each year on purchases.) It really depends on what you will be using your compass for. I'm a hiker and occasional mountaineer and my $35 Suunto is really all that I need--Suunto MC2 Pro is like what I have but costs $56 now. I also have Garmin Fortrex 401 for occasional GEOCOORD...

Massdrop x Peak to Plateau Yakino Wool Sweater
Hey all, I have had the oppertunity to test out the sweater for the last couple of weeks, and thought I would share my thoughts. First, a bit of background... I have been testing outdoor Yak wool garments pretty much since they hit the market, from most of the brands out there (very very few) that have released outdoor Yak wool garments, including Peak to Plateau and Kora, the two most well known brands. I have over 1,000 days of wearing...

Interest Check: Headlamps
Zebralight H53c headlamp modified to have simpler controls akin to the Massdrop Made and Reylight pocket flashlights. Simple push button control on tail cap (no twist switch like the County Comm lights) first step low, second step medium, third bright. Runs off AA sized batteries. Of course I would prefer brass or copper over anodized aluminum (antimicrobial). Super cool enhancement would be a QTC analog dial with knurled rim for more...

Massdrop x Dan Durston X-Mid 1P Tent
It should re-open in the next few days. Massdrop said "early-mid week" when I talked to them last but they weren't exactly sure because some of their key people were at the Outdoor Retailer show. The drops seem to open at the same time of day (8 AM EST, 5 AM PST) and it's not open now, so likely it'll open at that time on Tues, Wed or Thur this week. These 300 tents are the last ones that will be available for the upcoming season. They...

These are great outdoor pants and wonderful to climb in. Word of warning, however: You will look like you’re wearing bell bottoms if you care about that sort of thing. If that’s you, Prana makes these in other cuts. Check out the Brion pants for the same material or Bronson (reg fit)/Tucson (slim) for heavier fabric but still stretches.
