I have a relative that is a metallurgist in the aerospace industry (forge for plane parts). She is unaware of what this means "aircraft-grade magnesium alloy". What does aircraft grade mean? Usually this especially in audio-video is just marketing babble. Similar to "space age", which of course started in the 50/60's.
Because T6061 is just a number to most people. "Aerospace grade" gives an identifying property which people can relate to. It's not designed to be disingenuous - quite the opposite. We're just trying to be clear about the materials used.
Carpet and fabrics aren't relevant as we specifically state "aircraft grade magnesium alloy". For all I know they could make plane seats out of the arsecheeks of a Llama... 😊
