I don't understand what a "4.4 mm termination" is. Will this work in a standard mini headphone jack?

No. It's for a balanced connection, most commonly found on a modern DAP. You can use it in a standard headphones jack with an adapter.

Why is the 3.5mm more expensive than the 4.4mm?

Balanced cables (4.4mm, 2.5mm) are always more expensive than single-ended (3.5mm) cables. I run balanced inputs, outputs, cables, et as it offers better (cleaner) power.

Is this an efficient planar that can be run off the Apple lightning to 3.5 Dongle DAC/amp on an iPhone?

Oh yeah. Much easier to drive than a P1 for instance. It's rated at just under 15ohms and 104db. When I first unboxed it, I plugged directly into my phone's own jack, and even without a dongle, I was surprised by how responsive it is. I suspect this may have been engineered with dongle DAC's in mind. ;)

I went for the 4.4 to use with my balanced DAC It's really nice and soft. Good match IMO; very lightweight. I already have a separate 3.5 mmcx cable for use on my phone anyway.

they can be linear depending if you want to change out the cable.... with the cable that it comes with its V shaped.... I put a very thin cable on them and they are very linear now....
