I don't understand what a "4.4 mm termination" is. Will this work in a standard mini headphone jack?

No. It's for a balanced connection, most commonly found on a modern DAP. You can use it in a standard headphones jack with an adapter.

Why is the 3.5mm more expensive than the 4.4mm?
probably had more stock of the 4.4 sitting around that they wanted to get rid of

Is this an efficient planar that can be run off the Apple lightning to 3.5 Dongle DAC/amp on an iPhone?

Oh yeah. Much easier to drive than a P1 for instance. It's rated at just under 15ohms and 104db. When I first unboxed it, I plugged directly into my phone's own jack, and even without a dongle, I was surprised by how responsive it is. I suspect this may have been engineered with dongle DAC's in mind. ;)

I went for the 4.4 to use with my balanced DAC It's really nice and soft. Good match IMO; very lightweight. I already have a separate 3.5 mmcx cable for use on my phone anyway.

Jade82So...I'm seeing elsewhere that the 4.4 is balanced. Maybe with Drop it's not, but reviews I've seen refer to 4.4mm balanced. Is yours SE?

WordsandMusicI already have my own SE mmcx cables so I went for the 4.4

Jade82So the 4.4 with these IEMs is balanced? That's a bit of a bummer. Just today I got an MMCX cable from Hart Audio today, so I'm covered, but I have no way to use a balanced 4.4mm. Would have been nice if the drop had indicated the 4.4 was balanced.

WordsandMusicI just went for the 4.4 because I have 4.4 outputs and already have my own 3.5 MMCX cables, but the Timeless is also available with 3.5 SE if you haven't got a balanced output. The option to choose which one was shown while it was available. Hope that helps :)

WordsandMusic4.4mm is always balanced. If you have a 4.4mm output to use these with, it is compatible. Once more: single-ended 4.4mm does not exist.

If you need a 3.5mm termination, buy that instead.

SuperShibeOh yeah. I figured it out. I had confused 4.4mm with 1/4 inch. :( But I'm smarter now.

they can be linear depending if you want to change out the cable.... with the cable that it comes with its V shaped.... I put a very thin cable on them and they are very linear now....
