Is $15 shipping to Canada really justified? I just joined a drop for a bag with $5 for shipping. Surely a wallet would cost less to ship.

ZALHERAHello, We do our best to provide the lowest costs we can. Not sure what some others can provide for shipping, but our flat rate is $15.00 worldwide and that is our cost. We could certainly offer a $29.00 wallet and charge $5.00 for shipping Internationally, but that's not our intent. Either way, it's the same price, but taken two different ways. Sorry for the sticker shock, but that's literally our cost to ship to the world, including Canada. Again, I don't know what others can do for shipping costs based on volume or if they are adding costs into the price of the goods, but we are offering the best we can. May not help the situation but I felt you deserved an answer based on your concern.

ZALHERAI think for the total price of shipping, the wallet itself and conversion to Canadian dollars, you can do a lot better on Etsy. Lower shipping prices and lots of good leather wallet sellers.
This shipping cost is absurd, sorry. Canadian consumers shouldn't just accept shipping prices set by the seller. There are alternatives.

rossoneriAs a follow up....I am sure there are deals on many sites, where shipping is cheaper. Comparing apples to apples I did a quick search and comparison on Etsy and the vast majority of full grain leather wallets and full grain leather money clips are priced over $30.00 + shipping. I checked a fairly comparable one and the shipping to Canada was $12.00 +$29.00 for the wallet. I did not check them all, but again, at $30.00 for the wallet, we are competitively priced for an all in cost. Again, our product is not for all and we understand that. We just want to be as clear and honest as possible when we present our product and shipping costs. Thanks for looking and for joining the discussion.

AHLEATHERThere is no doubt that you would say that your product is "competitively" priced compared to the competition. Further, Etsy was just one example. The fact remains that your shipping price for a slim wallet is absurd.
There are definitely better looking (and more expensive) wallets on Etsy and I have purchased a few. The shipping prices were reasonable. The point is, your shipping cost appears to be the eBay seller model, where the product is sold for 2 cents with a shipping price of $30. On that note, are these mass produced in China? MD doesn't state in the description.
Your product is fine. I would have purchased multiples as they look decent and appear to be practical. Your shipping price is insulting MD consumers' intelligence though. S&H for the Venque Hamptons bag, which is live on MD right now, is less than $5.

rossoneriOur products are not made in China. To be honest Massdrop (on our last drop) had the shipping cost to members at a higher rate internationally. We were able to pass on our cost at ~$15.00. again, I don't know how others ship to Canada from the US for $5.00. Our cost is slightly less than $15.00 for all countries Worldwide, on average! We aren't making money on shipping. Your points above are valid, but not for all situations. I appreciate your comments however, but if I showed you our shipping costs, would that help? maybe not, but it might help with the word "absurd" as that is ~our cost. It certainly isn't $5.00. So we are not trying to hurt the member. We are just trying to not lose money on shipping. I'm sure you can understand that.

AHLEATHERIf that is the case, maybe talk to MD and ask how they can ship the Venque bag to Canada for $5 and use this shipper instead. Your shipper should explain to you why they are ripping you off. I am sure you can understand that $5 for a bag versus $15 for wallet is in fact absurd.
The LM Products Cannon Card Wallet and the Ashland Leather Johnny the Fox wallets, live on MD right now, have shipping at less than $10 to Canada as well ($7.50 and $9.75 respectively). The Kanto YUMI Powered Bluetooth Speakers ships for $15 to Canada. The speakers are much larger than your wallet, which also ships for $15. Are customers/members wrong to think that something is amiss?

rossoneriI get where you are. You are just looking at shipping. You have to understand logistics and pricing that into the products. Those wallets are much more expensive, have higher profit and probably price their shipping (to a point) into the cost of the product. Same with the speakers. You are paying for the shipping somewhere. Either in a shipping charge or in added into the product cost and a reduced shipping charge. I don't want to make a huge issue out of this, but I do appreciate the back and forth. Whatever I can learn from customers or potential customers only helps our business. And I've already reached out to MD to start asking for shipping, etc for the next drop. Not sure it will change anything but it's sure worth the ask! Thanks again.
