Noob question: what would you guys recommend to take care of the leather and make it shiny? Leather care products from Kiwi are readily available around here, from waxes to creams.
El-KamoteThere are many “over the counter” products. We recommmend natural products and remember, leather is just “skin” so natural and soap/water can help occasionally as well.
I've been using the wallet for over a month now, and it has that great looking appeal and quality. You can feel the difference of full grain leather versus the "genuine" ones when the price is being considered. I'll definitely buy these again as gifts for Christmas this year :)
If I'm going to nitpick, the metal logo on the front might cause an issue later on, but I haven't seen any warps or deformities on my ID or cards. Probably it will take years before the metal logo will rip out.
And I can now put in Japanese yen bills inside without those sticking out.
Joe_kThese are not. They are made in India, at one of the finest factories, making wallets for the major brands. We just happen have a solid relationship with them and can offer you the same quality at lower prices. Hope that helps.
Massdrop just sent me an email reminding me to rate the wallet, so I'm here to tell everyone that this wallet is pretty awesome. I got the brown buffalo calf crunch version with the removable ID pouch. The quality is truly top notch. I'm very pleased to have gotten a wallet this nice for this low of cost.
Before receiving, I was worried that repeated use might make the ID portion too easy to remove. After a couple of months, this has not been the case. It still stays firmly affixed. Also, I'm not sure if my wallet from a previous drop included the RFID protection, as I don't recall ever having the crinkly sound when I first received it that others have asked about.
Overall, I couldn't be happier. If you're needing a new wallet or wanting to upgrade from a lesser-quality wallet, your money will be well spent.
Any issues with Japanese yen bills? I need to replace my wallet because during my recent 10-day vacation in Tokyo my wallet can't accomodate 5,000 and 10,000 yen properly due to the weird sizes of those bills. And those bills aren't really durable at all.
If I have them right, the 10000 yen is 6.3 inches by 3 inches (approx). The ID Pullout is 8 x 2.9 (the wallet itself is a tiny bit over 3 inches and I doubt the extra .1 inch would stick out much.
The removeable ID wallet is slightly wider at 3.1 inches and would seem to fit the 10000 yen bill just fine. Those are inside dimensions.
Hope this helps.
AHLEATHERThanks @AHLEATHER, I already placed an order for the removable ID one in black glazed leather. Can't wait to check out the much-praised quality and craftsmanship of your wallets :)
@AHLEATHER is it possible to get a direct comparison pic between the Bufallo Calf Crunch "Black" and "Brown"? I'm currently having trouble deciding between the two
As a reminder, because it’s leather, the “grain” may be different as compared the photos seen here. Maybe more pronounced or less pronounced. Just an FYI.
AHLEATHERThanks for the follow-up! Thankfully I am fully aware that it is near impossible to have two 100% identical pieces, especially considering that the leather used is absolutely natural. I appreciate your follow-up and clearing things out either way, as you never know what'll happen.
I just received my wallet and I have to say the leather is really high quality. However, I just wanted to ask:
1. Is it normal for the inside of the money compartment to be so low quality? That whole section is making sounds when touched and it feels like some sort of cheap plastic is in there that really cracks every time the wallet is opened or the money compartment is touched
2. I ordered the one with the Removable ID and the removable part has a little cut in the leather on one of the credit card pockets. It's not a big deal but I think it will start to tear and spread when using it daily
Sorry for the low quality images.
