Been thinking of getting ciems for the gym - how are they for active users? Does sweat get in the way?
Hmm as much as i understand from plenty of reading, is that CIEMS are made exactly of the shape of your ear canal
So with good impressions... and simpler words: Your ear canal moves with your head and every move of your body ~ If your audiologist or the person who makes your impressions ... make good one , you should be able to even sleep with them without noticing even wearing them So my answer would be ... YES, in theory if they are good "sealed" and fit without making to much pressure while standing ... you can do what ever you want with them in
I personally wear some Shure SE215's and have the luck they fitt in my ear nearly seamlessly ... so it happen to me also without noticing to fall asleep :D
What i want to say is ... you shoudn't have any problems because of the nature of CIEMs They are made of one whole material (depend on brand for the faceplate) so the sweat gets only on the sides of them With normal headphones, you have the problem that the sweat stays on the tip and because of the form, it goes in the headphones and ruins them
And because the tip is longer then some univeral headphones ... it shoudn't be able to get in that easy ;) _______________________________________________________ Btw i would give you a tipp and join the drop as long as you can ^^ Because you never know when it will exactly end and on what time all drops are (at least for me it was like that) ~ missed arround 3 good (C)IMEs >_<
Looking for a warm tilting but neutral sig - kind of like an HD650
Nm - found one earlier in the thread (about the Pros - https://www.massdrop.com/buy/aaw-a3hpro-hybrid-3-way-ciem/talk/314361)
Question: Are micro drive the same as balanced armature? This CIEM has 1 dynamic + 2 balanced armatures?

I wrote my thread, by thinking about it theoretically from my sight ... that it shouldn't make any problems. But yes you are absolutely right, the ear canal shape changes ... so i was just not thinking it could have that of a big impact.
For my self , using around 2-3 years my SE215s , i had never any problems for discomfort and mostly forgot even wearing them (around 6h+ a day) ~ but that must be only me (also knowing some other users had pretty bad uncomfort problems on most shure series)
So by seeing mine, having somewhat of an acrylic shell, and having no problems running , sleeping and so on - it made for me the impression, that it was not just that of a big problem (if they sit correctly) -- They got a little sweaty but that it was really not a big problem if you clean your ears daily and just take care of your IEMs ___________________________________________________________ By using this rule of mine, i had never really any uncomfortable problem > But yes IEMs and CIEMs are completely different So it could be, that they make problems when the difference is really that big (*ear canal shape) _____________________________ Hmm, now i'm really thinking about if i should do the pricy work finding here somewhere an qualified Audiologist or just letting me make universals :( The Main reason for me choosing Customs what not exactly the better sound (sure they can sound way better because of the fact they are directly "in the ear") ^^ ~ but it was way more because of the fact everyone stated they are way more comfortable for long session works ...
So i'm really thinking what should i chose :c > universals (at least for the 215s) ... where pretty comfortable (*with the foam and not silicon fittings) > or custom molded ...
Ok, sleeping with them is not important :D But using them for long 6-8h sessions (with some pause for sure) ^^ ... is for me way more important and using them while traveling (train, bus, normal walk and other daily activities)
But yep again, thank you for your correction le_aaw and @autoconfig for not misleading q2klepto for my false help
