Every time a manufacturer sells their cans at 50% or so off original price, it screams we're paying a 100% premium over cost price. Must be nice being in an industry where you could sell goods at a 100% markup.

Eli35Yes, because headphones have the same level of ecosystem needs as a smartphone (firmware, OS, integration, apps, support, warranty, OTA updates, security updates, etc.).

darwinActually there are very few products that enjoy 25% or more profit margins. Most products sold have anywhere 3-8% margin. Groceries/lowest having the lowest profit margin.

rdodevIt was a dumb counterexample, most products these days sell (specially electronics) sell well over 100% margin, but that's because a lot of factors: from r&d to marketing, maintenance and support... There's much more behind a product that just it's production cost.

phoenixsongI've seen it on ebay, It's not constant though. But with their on and off %15 off sales you get close to that as well.
