There’s not quite enough space on your screen for every photo and calculation, but it’s not nearly bad enough to justify a wall mounted monitor or similarly expensive set-up. For additional screen space at a fraction of the cost, try the Adafruit Qualia 9.7” DisplayPort Monitor with a self-assembled plastic enclosure and stand.
Note: This monitor requires limited home assembly. This drop is limited to 50 units.
The heart of the device is a 9.7” diagonal TFT display module, the same screen that is used in the iPad 3 and 4. Featuring a 2048x1536 resolution and a 12-channel constant current driver, the display is powered by a 9 V power adapter and has backlighting courtesy of an ATtiny85. With no visible pixels, plenty of workspace, and a full range of backlighting options, the monitor is ideal for programmers, photo editors, and anyone else who needs a dedicated retina screen.
The Adafruit Qualia Monitor comes with the display panel attached and tested, so you don’t have to worry about assembling electronics or receiving a lemon. As for the plastic enclosure and stand, the kit includes all of the necessary materials, stamped with corresponding letters to make assembly a breeze with this instructional guide. All in all, construction should only take 30 minutes and can be completed without any additional tools, or with a small screwdriver to really tighten up the frame. To connect to your computer, simply plug in through the DisplayPort and watch your Adafruit Qualia 9.7” DisplayPort Monitor whir to life.
Note: This product does not function with HDMI input. It will only accept native Thunderbolt and DisplayPort connections.
