Product Description
Fast, efficient, and equipped with plenty of storage, these ADATA XPG GAMMIX S11 Pro 3D NAND PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD drives are optimized for the most intense gaming, rendering, and overclocking applications. The PCIe Gen3x4 interface allows for read/write speeds of 3,500 MB/s and 3,000 MB/s, while 3D NAND flash technology means the drive can process more quickly and reliably than planar NAND drives Read More
Pretty sure you can buy a 1TB 970 Evo Plus, which is also TLC, but top of the line, and for cheaper. (Although this does have a heatsink, so perhaps this is the better option if the heatsink is effective and you're going to be working the drive hard?)
Any reason to grab this over the (1Tb) 8200 Pro on Amazon for 130 after $20 coupon? The two are the same product with a different heatsinks but I can't find any test results on the thermal performance differences between the two.
Also should be mentioned since Massdrop conveniently left this out - the speed listed is for the 1TB. The 256GB writes at 1200 MB/s and the 512GB writes at 2300MB/s
AliGNo reason actually. Its just the 8200 pro with a flashy heat sink strapped on. Also beware that this also adds on quite a bit more size on the m.2 ssd so some slots on a motherboard that have a heat sink specifically for the m.2 ssd wont be able to fit it.
This is grossly overpriced (no surprise there). SSDs are on sale all the time now and this class of drive can be had for about 20-30% less than here from the likes of Amazon and Newegg.
devonjonesHi, devonjones
Yes, I work in ADATA, and I share the price comparison info. It is an excellent external SSD.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
PS: this also tells you that Drop is authorized re-seller of ADATA and you don't need to worry about the quality or reliability thing.
Good day
Not a awesome deal by any stretch, but I did it because I am not in a hurry, and they don't charge tax. I saved about $15 net from buying the 512 from Amazon.
