JASIINo it is not. Per AE's website, this is a recreational model intended for lakes, bays, inland waters, and slow moving rivers up to class 2. Their advancedframe line or airfusion elite is suited for ocean paddling.

Backcountry36can it not handle the salt water? Or is it simply rated for calm water? This looks ideal to bring with us on our boat trips.
AnanzyHi Ananzy, It is designed for paddling flat water to up to class II rivers, and salt water if fine too. It is a very stable kayak with high capacity and comfortable seats. It really is a great family kayak for camping trips even with the dog! The floor chamber is encased in a fabric cover for additional abrasion protection.
JASIIHi JASII, Thanks for your question... It can be used in calm bays, marinas, and protected ocean, salt water is absolutly fine. We always recommend that when paddling in the ocean be aware of your surrounding and the currents as well as off-shore winds. Conditions can change quickly so it is important to know the area that you will be paddling. Thanks for your question!

AnanzyIt can totally handle salt water. Just like anything involved with salt water though, you must rinse the boat with fresh water after use to help preserve the material from salt buildup and corrosion. It is rated for calmer water as you cannot skirt this kayak and it's not self bailing. This would make a great tender if that is what you are referring to with boat trips.
