As royalflush noted, some guy (me) on head-fi, "claimed that his broken K267 was not repaired under AKG warranty, but replaced with a K712 instead." Yes, that happened. And while I like the K712, a lot, I still went out and found another K267 because I like them so much. The isolation, portability & overall sound signature are what sold me on the K267 in the first place and what I missed with the K712.
Maybe Will can check a few serial numbers and get back to us with the results. It should be: UT3474-XXXXXX. If the last six digits indicate they are 7000 series or higher, they should be the newer version. The other check is the lump in the smaller adjustable part of the headband just above the metal swivel pieces.
Whether they are the updated version or not, they are the best sounding headphones I have heard. I'll be in for at least one set either way.

Yardst1ckDefinitely would be nice to get a clue which one is massdrop providing!
Yardst1ckHey man, thanks for your post! I checked the serial numbers on all our sample units and they range from 10973 to 11983, well above the 7000 mark.
I'll add some pics to this post in a bit.
Anything else I can check?
