My concern for international buyers would be... if the presumed newer design is just as bad with the low physical reliability on the hinge area, what recourse are there for the international buyers?
Your countries own consumer laws could help you. For example in Australia ACCC protects consumers with their laws regardless of the warranty. If the product is deemed to not be of a proper standard. Which would easily be proven in this case if the product was not fixed. You would be entitled to what your consumer law specifies.
Generally speaking your warranty will fulfilled by International Distributors. Here's a list of them. If you wants a warranty claim just contact corresponding distributors. I've just done that for my beyer T90....
