The sound is reasonable for a $130 headphone, but if you're looking for something that seals noise in, and / or something for portable use, I'd easily recommend finding something else. Sound leaks fairly heavily for a closed pair, and construction quality, as well as odd inconsistencies in builds (see earlier posts) are probably reason enough to look for something else in the same field. M50x, while not as emphasized in the low end frequencies, is a very comparable headphone, and can be found on Amazon right not with an M-Audio amp for an identical price when using a promo code. I can't say anything about the amp.
