How often does this happen with AKG cans? I keep hearing about build issues from most of their popular offerings. It's off-putting.
If u don't like them anymore u can donate them to me. I have some ideas to rebuild them. Fit some velvet ear pads off audio technica. Redo the top in leather and the sticky mess can be taken off with some goo gone or covered with plastidip. They are far from dead !
I agree, may be he should stop letting his pet use it as a chewing toy. I had the original K550 too from 3 or 4 years ago ( don't remember, I don't know what happened to the receipt), none of the peeling problem. I only had one pair of headphone with deterioration issue which I was using on my MiniDisc player everyday back in mid to late '90s and left in the box for last 15+ years.
