New to Massdrop. Very happy to be acquiring the K553. I had a K550 a couple years ago and I was astounded by the sound quality for classical music. I no longer have the K550, and when searching for a replacement I found this website and the K553. I recently purchased a Sennheiser Momentum over-ear, and was disappointed: the sound clarity was mediocre almost as if there were gaps in its sound spectrum, the sound stage was nonexistent (cramped ... even claustrophobic), and the ear cups were a tad too small. Needless to say, I returned the Momentums forthwith. I can't wait to get my hands on these K553s. I've not found any closed-back over-ear headphones under $400 that best the AKG K550s for classical music, and the K553s are supposed to be an improved version.

dwane5Cool. Good for you and at a great price too. I tried the over ear version. I have found that Sennheiser does not really have the sound I like except for the HD800 and somewhat the HD600/HD650.
