Well, I've been going back and forth on these versus my HiFiMan HE-400's. So far, the HE-400s just win out for me overall. Of course, the design differences couldn't be much different :). I'm also "in" on the DT990 drop here, and have quite a few other Mid-Fi cans hanging about (TH-600, HD650, MDR-7506 etc. etc.).
My setup: 320kbps MP3s or FLACs => Schiit Modi 2 => Schiit Magni 2.
I'm mostly a metal head, but listen to just about everything under the sun, aside from rap/hip-hop stuff. Classical, jazz, mo town, funk, blues, metal, modern country... all in my collection and gets play time.
I usually don't buy into "burn in", so I'm not convinced I'll hear any difference in the long run. These are not at all bad cans, and I'll be keeping them in the collection. They drive easily on portables, though they definitely benefited from my Schiit setup (not sure if that's the DAC shining through, or just being hit with a bit more power).
For EDL, I actually still prefer the 7506s over the K553's, which surprised me. I need to get new pads on my 7506s... these are about 15 years old now and I don't even know how many hours of playtime. Thousands quite easily...

Seltaif you wana test to see if burnin is real yourself, buy some JVC HA-RX900 or HA-RX700's and listen to them before burn in, then burn them in for a week solid and re-listen...the change will shock you....not even kidding....they sound OK before....they sound amazingly better after(also removeing the felt over the drivers is a huge must...it takes 10-15min but....sooo worth it(on the jvc that is)
