Any proud hd650 users here? I'm curious how these will compare. I understand these will sound something between 702 65th and 712 pro, which - based on the reviews I've read seems fine. I'm worried about sibilance after enduring grado 325 for way too long.

If you already have a 650 you would be better off throwing this money at an OTL amp.

Thanks for the comment. These are going to be my secondary headphones for office use to help avoid sitting around in IEMs all day. I realize these will not improve my listening experience at home. I guess I'm just curious how close to my preferred sound (natural, warm, laid back with rich mids) these will be.

I have the hd650's and am also curious about a comparison between these. I've read somewhere that akg's would be closer to the hd600's in sound than the 650's though.

Yep I saw that too earlier today. I think we've been reading the same comparisons :)

If you already have the 650s, I don't think this is going to be an improvement. They may sound worse.

They are giving these a 3 dB bass boost so that could creep into the mids and affect "the warm, natural laid back" sound. The one reason I will never buy any audio anything from Massdrop is the no return policy. I know why they have to do it. It just means you MUST make sure you want what you are buying.

HD650 hardly sounds anything like AKG IMHO.
HD650 is a lot darker and warmer than AKG, the bass improvement on K7XX version is a very subtle one and is no where near the warmth given by the HD650 imo.

ACTUALLY if you watch LinusTechTips' video about the K7XX, he says that the K7XX and almost identical to the HD650s :)

Thanks for the input! It's not like I'm looking for another pair of 650's -- I would have picked them up for 320 yesterday. I am looking for a different headphone, but it needs to fit my preferences, which based on my experiences seem to be skewed towards laid back highs and good low end + mids (which is surely related to the types of music I tend to listen to as well)

Linus while great at reviewing PC products is a pretty poor Audio reviewer and it came across in his video, He didn't mention anything about the source he was using and that's pretty important to audiophiles in addition to it was just stating the obvious as if he read specifications of the box. What we did get was nice shots and an idea how well it is constructed.

He also doesn't say what source equipment he used or the audio formats being played. These are important things to mention.

Judging by his video review praising the AKG for the detachable cable; I don't think he's aware the Sennheiser's have that too!

Try exploring the Beyerdynamic line. I did and ended up with DT 990 Pros. Great German engineering and build quality (still made in Germany).
