Received mine yesterday. I connected them directly to my MixAmp Pro 2013 and played COD on the XBONE. The first thing I noticed was I need to turn the volume almost to maximum to get good game volume. Is that normal? I typically use my X1 for gaming and can get them loud with the volume dial halfway.
The second thing I noticed was explosions and bullets sounded more muffled than they do on my X1. Do I need an amp to reach their true potential?

Yes, you need a amp. The k7xx are harder to drive.

Yep oscara74, it seems the Astro can not provide the power the KXX needs to sound it's best. FiiO E11k ($60) or Schiit Magni ($79) amplifiers, just daisy chain one of them off the Astro.

Thanks for the feedback and feared that might be the case. I have an O2. Is that powerful enough or will I need the Magni?

Schiit has the original as a close out for $79 on the website and it should be adequate. I find these don't drive nearly as hard as I had anticipated. Schiit products on Amazon are sold by Schiit but they simply charge more there for them ($20 for Magni). Best to buy direct at schiit.com They have well detailed specs on all their products
