I just got the Sennheiser HD598CS's (closed back) for Christmas. They were about $100, a great deal, sound good for the money and everything. Is it worth replacing those with the K7XX? Its a good portion of my money and I am not 100% sure if I want to spend it on them. I know I wont be disappointed and they sound great and all, but it is worth replacing headphones I just got? Thanks

I don't have HD598SE I bought for a similar price. I haven't heard the CS version. K7XX is definitely an upgrade over HD598SE, I can hear a lot more details. It has a very different sound signature from HD598SE. If I could keep only one it would be K7XX because it works great for movies too. Is it a worthy replacement for you? That's a personal question only you can answer to. Also make sure to add amp cost into account if you decide to buy K7XX.

No, don't waste your $$$ on these. Bought a pair & no compare to the Senate's! The 598C is at an awesome price...

Don't agree. The 6XX Sennheisers have a warm low end but I would rather hear the instruments without artificial warmth, have both and like the detail on the 702's(slightly different but made in China) to the 6XX's.
To each his own though.

Whatever, I like the openness of the AKG's a little better.

Well go ahead & see (hear) the difference, there is no compare to the Sennheiser cans in this price range...warmness is imaginary, The AKG' are no where near as comfortable to wear either.
