I mainly use my headphones for gaming, I would say about 90% gaming and 10% to movies and music. I am deciding between these, Senn's HD6XX/650, or Q701. Does anyone know which have better positional que's since I mainly play FPS games which requires me to listen to footsteps. I have been doing a lot of research but none have completely convinced me 1 is better than the other. I been finding reviews recommending the following: Q701, K702/K7XX, and the HD650. I would love to hear from someone who has owned at least 2 out of the 3 listed.

6xx owner here, I also had listened to 701 and 702 plus 1000+ hrs in FPS session. I would say that all of these are excellent headphones in terms of quality. The main difference between akg and hd650 would be hd650 will be slightly darker than akg. And the earpads shape are not the same, oval and circle shape. Lastly,I would recommend the cheapest, easiest to find and the most comfortable for gaming because these 3 headphones are already remarkable.

Hey Elite thanks for the input, do you happen to have any experience with the Sennheiser 558 or 598 would you say the positional cue's on these are better? I have heard mixed opinions on the positional cues on the 7xx some say when someone is next to them they sound like they are far away, while other say the opposite.

I've got the HD650s and the K7XXs and I'd say just in terms of comfort alone, I'd go with the K7XX for gaming. Even after the old box stretch, the 650s are a bit tight for me. I think both would be excellent in terms of SQ, imaging, etc.

I owned both the AKG K7XX and the Senn HD6XX. I find that the Sound Quality and staging for the Senn HD6XX is better. It really fits my personal song preferences and the built is more robust. I'm not too sure about gaming though, however I feel that if you're going to use it >80% of the time for gaming, then might as well spend it buying gaming headphone.

Thanks good to see some input about the comfort because I spend hours gaming and usually listen to music during breaks. If the 650's are tight it might be an issue because I have a pretty large head, my hat size is 7 3/4 - 7 7/8.

Gaming headphones are usually garbage. A good gaming headphones guide can be found here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/534479/mad-lust-envys-headphone-gaming-guide-3-18-2016-mrspeakers-ether-c-1-1-added

Yep, my hat size is around 7 1/2 - 7 3/4 so in the same ballpark. The 650s aren't UNcomfortable, but I do notice them more than my K7XXs when listening to music for several hours. I prefer the larger *memory foam* ear cups and the self-adjusting headband of the K7XX as well in terms of comfort.

Hey Thanks for the link! I was looking for this because I saw a few months ago but for the life of me I couldn't find it. Yeah I agree with gaming headphones being garbo since I came from gaming headphones before switching to senn's HD558 and it was night and day.

From what I can recall since I listened to 598 I could remember that the sound position without any configuration 7xx would be closer than 598. And you should be aware that 6xx has a velvet earpads with it which cause me an irritating feeling when used for a while, but this might be different from peole to people

Thanks for all the input, I went ahead and placed the order for the 7xx. Who knows when they will actually drop the 6xx again anyway. Good to know about the velvet pads on the 6xx, since it irritates my ears after a while and I tend to keep my headphones on anywhere from 3-4 hours at a time so comfort is definitely a big factor.

Congrats! I think you'll be happy with them. I just got done using mine for a few hours. Switching over to the LCD-Xs for some music now.

You can bend (not stretch) any headphones with your hands. Box stretch does not stay, most headphones are too springy.
