how does everyone like these headphones?
i absolutelly hated them compared to both hd598 and hd650.
i tried to like them, but they were unconfortable and the sound was not that great.
i mainly play PC games and play blueray movies and some music.
been using with a schiit stack (magni 2/modi 2, both uber).
thank god i finally found a buyer on craigslist. couldn't be more happier to get rid of these.
People have different tastes in sound quality. I never cared much for the HD600 in the year or so I owned them. Over the past few years I have owned the Beyerdynamic Dt880, Hifiman he400i, Sennheiser HD600, and the AKG Q701. Out of all of those I preferred the AKG Q701. I just purchased the K7xx and am excited to hear what they have to offer. It's a great thing that we have so many options as there is no one size fits all solution in audio as in most things in life.
i hear ya.
i bought these after reading reviews and it just didn't fit my tastes.
i only used them for 2 weeks.
i did like the fidelio x2 as well, i shouldn't have sold these.
but the hd650s blow them out of the water. i'm tempted to try audeze planar magnetic, but i'm not quite ready to shell the $$. i don't really consider myself an audiophile, but i do appreciate fine engineering.
everyone has different taste ! although the overall majority do prefer the sennheisers, as do I :)
So these are those who await the HD6XX drop
i'm not an audiophile, so i can't really tell you in "audio" terms.
lets say it lacked depth, i'm not talking about bass. i can't describe it. but the sennies sound fuller? is that the correct term?
you lost me there buddie. i have no idea what mids or highs are. i do however know lows since that's bass most of the time.
all i care is how good i perceive them to sound. and so far the combo of schiit stack + hd650 gave me the most satisfaction.
i'd love to hear how planar magnetic headphones sound, but i'd rather not dwelve into the upper hundreds. i use them about 90% of the time to play games.
I had a different impression of the HD600.
While the high end on the HD600 is sweeter, I found it sounded narrow in it's sound stage. It sounded as if instruments were directly beside my ears. The q701 (one of the predecessors to the k7xx, which I directly compared them to when I owned the HD600) presented everything slightly away, making the headphone sound more speaker like and less like two drivers firing right into my ear. I was running the HD 600 with a both a Schiit Valhalla and Magni 2 uber along with a Bifrost Uber DAC, so amping and the dac were not the problem. I also found the HD600 to be a much slower sounding headphone, which did not fit my tastes. It was a boring sound that I never grew to enjoy in the year and a half I owned the HD600.
The k7xx improves upon the q701 greatly, featuring better bass, a meatier midrange, and a much cleaner and tamed treble in direct comparison. It's a very nice refinement of the sound and hits an almost perfect balance in my opinion. The last word I would use to describe the K7xx or any of the K7 variants is "boxy". I hear zero boxiness in their presentation.
AKG's sound isn't for everyone, but to make a blanket statement that they sound like "crap" is a pretty harsh judgement and highly inaccurate. They certainly don't sound like "crap" to me.
honestly they did sound like crap to me. but again, when it comes to sound it is vastly different for each individual. see how many beats by dre sell every day. that i consider even worse than the k7xx. yet everyone sweats them out like if they were audio nirvana.
again, in my opinion the k7xx sound like crap. it is my opinion of them tho, doesn't mean everyone will agree.
What I don't get is why you are here posting about a headphone the sounds like crap to you. Are you bored or just trolling?
The HD600 is not "good" in your opinion? Since you have such expensive tastes, why are you slumming on a discussion board for a $200 headphone?
what i don't get is why you are asking why i'm posting about headphones in a headphones thread.
are you bored or just trolling?
see what i did there?
i had a comment about this particular headphones because i ACTUALLY bought these in here. trolling would have been if i had no intentions of buying them here.
i was asking for opinions, since i'm not an audiophile. yes simple as that.
Very clever! I SEE what you did there...well done.
"thank god i finally found a buyer on craigslist. I (see what I did there) couldn't be (see what I did there) happier to get rid of these. "
"how does anyone (see what I did there) like these headphones?"
Trolling-make a deliberately offensive or provocative online post with the aim of upsetting someone or eliciting an angry response from them.
Thank you! Have a good one!
