Phillips x2 vs akg k7xx?
HxInoCompared to the Philips Fidelio X2, the K7XX has a smoother, more-realistic sound... more balanced and revealing. The X2 has more mid- and upper-bass. Both headphones have a very wide sound-stage. Comfort... the K7XX is lighter, has less clamp, and bigger ear-cups. Construction... K7XX feels a bit flimsy with its almost entirely plastic design. The X2 is made mostly of metal parts and feels substantially sturdier... has to be the best-built headphone in the world under $300 (now ~$200). I wouldn't be afraid to travel with the X2. If its cable gets damaged or lost, its standard 1/8" cable can easily be replaced. The K7XX has a less-common (and more expensive) mini-XLR connector. For overall versatility, I'd give the edge to the X2, but the 7XX has a more accurate, neutral sound - especially noticeable with instrumental/orchestral music.

mattrisDo you think the k7 would break easily? Also which is better for like electronic and house? I feel like the x2 would feel heavy on your head for many hours (I use mine for like 5 hours or so at a time when I'm doing homework) wouldn't it? Thank
HxInoThe K7XX isn't the sturdiest headphone, so it might break a bit easier than most $200 around-the-ear, open-back, headphones. Its self-adjusting headband mechanism has been know to break due to heavy usage... or if you're not careful.
The X2 doesn't feel that heavy once it's on your head. The camping force and size of the ear-cups is perfect. Some would say that the K7XX's camping force is too light, and its ear-cups are too big.
For sound quality, though, the K7XX is worth the asking price... without a doubt. Compared to the Philips X2, I'd say the K7XX would better for all genres of music. Though for EDM/house music, you might want to look into getting a closed-back (or semi-closed) headphone, which would provide a much tighter (and generally stronger) bass response than what the open-backed X2/K7XX can offer. Under $200, I recommend the AKG K553 Pro (being offered right now on Massdrop) or the SoundMagic HP150. If you want to hear more of the fine details in your music, the K553 would be an excellent choice. For a richer, more-intimate sound go for the HP150 .

mattrisif just comparing the soundstage which one has a wider soundstage, K7xx or Fidelio X2? thanks 🙏
jameswooHi, James. While I don't have either headphone anymore, I remember the X2 having a wider soundstage. Problem is, its he left/right channels are unnaturally 'pulled apart' in the extreme. As a result, its imaging performance leaves much to be desired. The K7xx is better in this regard, with a much more cohesive presentation.
