AKG K7XX Massdrop edition '=,Q701 + K712 Pads ?
AKG K7XX Massdrop edition '=,AKG K712 ?
Nope, K7XX and K712 have different drivers.
Yes, I think the main difference is the K7xx is Chinese while the K712 is made in Austria. I don't know if the drivers are the same as the K712 or not. The pads may be different in material, but again, I would not know as I have no comparison. I have read that the K712 is more refined, but I would not know as I have never heard the K712.
The K712 is made in Slovakia. Sonically they are nearly identical. The K712 pads are slightly deeper.
I have both and have had a number of others listen to both. Everyone has heard a difference and had a preference. Most tend to prefer the 712. They are NOT the same.
Oh, got it. Hmm, do the K712s say "Made in Austria" anymore I wonder. I wonder why they switched to Slovakia...unless Austria is now Slovakia (it's hard to keep up sometimes).
Well, at the end of the day it's all personal preference and what flavor we each like. If my headphone use ever increases ( a most unlikely event) enough to justify investment level cans, I'll get the K712s.
Nope, only the old (over 1 year ago) Austrian made K712s said that on the outside of the earcups. Now that text is gone and they say Made in Slovakia (EU) on one side of the headband.
