I am wondering one thing. Knowing the K7xx uses the Annie pads, where does one get the pads? I know I can not get them from AKG, they don't sell them. It will be at least 3 to 4 years before I may need to replace the pads, but I was thinking prudently about picking up a spare set if available somehow. Of course, if the pads cost as much as half to full price of the cans then when the time comes for new pads all bets are off.
Uh the only place to get Annie pads is directly from AKG. If you're in the US, call AKG parts at +1 818 920-3279 and ask for part no.5021871. I was quoted $44 per pad, a pair of them with shipping and tax to CA costs me a little over $100.
Thanks Octiceps. Yup, not worth it to me. When it comes time for new pads there will either be alternatives or I'll just get new cans in the same price range. (Glad I did not get the K712s).
Expensive pads is par for the course with high-end headphones
Are you able to wash/clean these pads? I have washed pads like dt's before but never a memory foam insert style pad.
Not sure, but if you're gentle (hand wash and air dry) they should turn out fine
