Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Got some great news from AKG today. Rather than the 580 units we expected to receive, 1000 are on a truck to our warehouse right now! Given that, we're increasing the cap on this drop by 420 units up to 1000 pcs total.
Thanks for your support and interest in this drop, let me know if you have any questions.
I know that probably isn't possible as you just pick one up package it away then ship it off but just thought I'd throw that out there and I guess the drop won't end early then :( and since you have a good bit more coming you might extend the drop possibly?
I hope not as I don't want to have to wait to long, maybe hold the leftovers for yet another drop of the K7XX?
With the frequent interaction Massdrop has had with AKG, I was wondering if you believe ordering a batch of custom color K7XX headphones for a drop is even a plausible request that the manufacturer would be willing to fulfill.
Thanks
This drop was limited to 580. Raising the cap feels dishonest. This is an ethical mistake. Your audiophile community recognized the value in this great exclusive product and it sold out sooner than you expected. We all thought we needed to get in quick as we watched the units sold jump up. Now that you've increased the cap you damage the exclusivity which you sold to us from the start. You have diluted the value of this drop and decreased my enjoyment of buying in. It shows your inexperience in business. Please stop this drop and honor your community. I personally do not have a problem with you dropping the rest of the shipment at a later date. I enjoy this site and look forward to future drops. I am glad that more of my Massdrop brothers will be able to get in on this drop.
Warm regards.
It is regrettable that you must derive enjoyment from and place special value upon the concept of other people not being able to share in the same experience as you.
Apparently they were supposed to only be around 6-7k run of these, based on demand they most likely upped the order with AKG, from a business perspective they would be stupid not to. In regards to them being limited, they still are since you can't purchase these at any other retailers.
Fact of the matter is, we were told there would be 580 units in the incoming shipment, but we were later informed 1000 would be in the shipment instead. In the course of global import/export, it's pretty common, even for public companies like Harman, to get a couple hundred units more or less (thank god it's more this time) than expected.
As an example, if you want to buy and import Phillips headphones, you have to purchase a 40ft container for a specific price. They don't tell you what's in the container, they don't know. One branch of the company packs the containers, another sells them, and they don't need to tell buyers what's inside because there's enough margin and they're selling to places like Target who can move pretty much anything under $500/unit. While it makes them nearly impossible to work with, you have to respect the apathy with which they're able to sell products.
I appreciate that you feel strongly about the exclusivity of our drops, but let's be clear, I didn't spend months negotiating, designing, and pitching this product so a small group of Audiophiles could enjoy it. I worked with AKG to make this product so more people could be introduced to the world of Audiophile sound and appreciate the hobby so many of us love. The more people who can have one of these the better, so when AKG called me and said "we've got 420 more than expected", you bet I increased the maximum drop quantity.
It's called "Limited Edition" because we have to call it that. By and large, exclusivity on consumer products is a concept made up by manufacturers to add perceived value to products that don't have enough real value to justify their price. Buy mass produced products because they're good, not because you think you're missing out otherwise, or you think they'll put you in an exclusive club (a hard thing to type for someone with a wall of Jordan retros).
Warm regards,
