BartimaeusI hear the soundstage of the K7XX is better, and I care more about gaming than audio quality, at least with this headset.

BartimaeusUnless you simply want to spend $77 more, I'd say get the K7XX. Have a friend who compared both, found them to be virtually the same. He sold his K712 and stuck with the K7XX. I got them as well. Love them.
@ALDOFTW That's a different pair of headphones. Greatest difference when compared to the K7XX would be the Q701 have a more neutral low-end which will lend to a more analytical sound. Not to mention their infamous, uncomfortable headband bumps.
@ehud7315 Yes, I'd easily say so. Spacious sound, tight low-end, balanced mids and clean highs. Pairing them with a decent DAC/amp makes them shine even more.
@dvolpe You might have a bass rattle issue. Run the "Bass Shaker" test under the Quality section to confirm.

MassEDUWhich one would you recommend in terms of mixing and mastering? I need headphones that project the most accurate and precise sound.

BartimaeusI only listen for leisure so I won't pretend to offer recommendations for mixing and mastering. Aside from being virtually identical, my friend did say that the K712 has slightly more neutral bass than the K7XX, making the K712 feel slightly wider and airier to him. But again price is the greatest difference. That said, I'd consider both "accurate and precise" for their tier.
