I think K7xx can replace 598.

The K7XX is more comparable to the 600 and 650 cans.

I believe that they're better than the 598s but not really a hugely significant upgrade for the money. I love my K7XXs but I'd suggest saving for HD650s.

And now we have the Sennheiser HD6XXs... K7XX are still fantastic but I feel the HD6XXs will be better if you get better gear to work with later down the line.
