RIP K7XX there's a new sheriff in town
I don't think so. The 6XX is a great deal, no doubt, but I'm still going with the 7XX because I've used the Q701 before and I know what to expect from the 7XX. I also play a lot of video games AND listen to a lot of music and the 7XX's are golden cans for FPS'.
Yeah not really RIP, they are pretty similar but with small differences. I already own the K7XX and there's really no point in me to buy buy the HD6XX.
is it good for alright for bass and FPS gaming? for K7xx
I don't know for sure, I'm buying them in this drop, but the Q701's were a little light on bass. These have slightly more so I'd guess they're "alright".
heavy gamer here as well, what would be the ideal amp in this situation? this will be my first set of legit headphones coming off two pairs of G930s (the current ones are starting to cause mysterious ear pain), I want to make sure they are driven properly for my music and games - I'm game to spend an additional 100-200 to make the K7XX's shine but the more research I've done, the more confused I've gotten.
Do I need to get a sound card for my PC just for this fucking thing, or can I get an amp and just plug it into my integrated audio jack on my ASRock Z75 Pro 3 mobo? You seem like you've got your shit together so I wanted to ping you for your personal experiences if that's cool
I've got a z94 Pro 4 myself, and mine comes with integrated 7.1 surround. So, for gaming's sake, it'll be just fine. I compared these to the V-Moda M-100s and I'm going with the V-Modas because they have better bass, are more stylish, and have better build quality.
I've used an O2+ODAC for all my headphones so far but I know I am going to also be buying a Magni 2 Uber + Modi Multibit to use with the 7XX's so I'm going to have a monster amount of power. These headphones are 62 ohms, which will need some omph to get the most out of them. Just buying an amp and plugging it into your integrated audio should be fine. Since you said you're down to spend on an amp, I'm just gonna recommend the Magni 2, regular or Uber ($99/$149).
you don't need a soundcard. Just buy a dac/camp combo and you're golden. I bought the red accent version of these and will be buying the micca origen+ when that gets back in stock on amazon.
UPDATE: I decided to forego the Micca Origen+ and went balls out to buy the Schiit Jotunheim with balanced DAC option #cuzmericuh. I figured I'd just buy a very nice dac/amp so i never have to worry about upgrading again.
