Black & Gold with a Satisfying Sound

As far as mechanical keyboards go, the 3098N is about as stealthy and precise as they come. Designed in a mostly black-and-gray color scheme with just a few pops of gold, the look is understated with a touch of pizzazz. And, with options for AKKO’s CS switches—with foam dampening to quiet things down—you’ll have a ninja-like feel as well. The board also provides a whole arsenal of connectivity options, including the standard, wired USB-C port, plus Bluetooth 5.0 and 2.4-gigahertz wireless—enabling you to fit this keyboard into whatever setup you have. There are 5-pin, hot-swappable sockets and north-facing RGB LEDs in the PCB for solid compatibility, plus a 3,000 milliamp-hour battery for hours of use. The kit comes with ASA-profile doubleshot PBT keycaps in an iconic black and gold colorway.

Considering they don’t specifically mention if it’s metal or not, I’d assume plastic. And if I’m wrong, then me being wrong will get me corrected and maybe get you your answer faster :)Read More

I bought this about two years ago. It's a complete piece of sh*t and it has given me problems from day one. First off, the Bluetooth connection is horribly inconsistent. The Bluetooth would connect to my laptop (a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga), but after typing between 20 - 200 characters the connection would glitch out, causing whatever character I'd typed last to just keep repeating (imagineeeee how frustrating it would be to typeeeeee like thisssssssssss and constantly have to fix your mistaaaaaaaaaaaakes). After these glitches, the keyboard would be unresponsive for several seconds before resuming as normal. Naturally, I started using the USB connection instead of Bluetooth. However, the USB adaptor they give you SUCKS - it broke off inside my computer within about three weeks. It still worked (I could slide the broken off bit into the usb port that had the rest of it jammed inside) but I was now down one USB port on my laptop. Finally, the switches are horrible. It's certainly convenient that they're hot-swappable because I was switching them around constantly. Whatever switch I was using as a control key would wear out (on average) about every six to ten months. I should probably add that I was not abusing this keyboard AT ALL - it sat stationary on my desk for most of the time I had it. I gave this product so many chances because of its advertised versatility, and I would still like a Bluetooth-compatible mech keyboard. But don't be fooled, this product is worthless. I'm harvesting the keycaps and then taking it to be recycled today.
