Adding/Including Memories
I lost my dad last year (2023) and have been finding ways to include keepsakes/memories in my workstation. I've dabbled here and there with doing small woodworking projects and attempted a wrist rest from a piece of oak I picked up with him from my great uncles wood shop. I milled it to fit a 60% keyboard as I hadn't decided what keyboard I would be using it on and thought that's where most of my wrist would be in contact even typing on a full keyboard. I gave it a torched/burn appearance as I really was lost in what to do. I found an old shell casing from going hunting with my dad in my hunting pack and decided to imbed it into the end of the wrist rest so it would just have a little difference and a small story behind it as well. I have other things around my workstation from family and friends, but it just feels a little more special having worked on it and adding something small that has a memory for me to it. I weigh 340lbs and am 6'3. I have a rule of thumb when it comes to figuring out the chair needed... Take your weight and add 50lbs, if that is at or less than the weight capacity, then it should easily support you.
I hope this helps with any future gaming chair purchasing decisions. ^_^
But I do sometimes post to clarify facts. A class 4 gas lift, by definition, is rated to 150 kg of weight support, or 330 lbs. The DX Racer Boss series has a class 4 gas lift. You don't need to take my word, it says it openly in their specs. So, it presents possible issues for the Boss series to support someone over that weight for the long term. Despite any other features they may have included to optimize the chair for big and tall. The gas lift is not rated for it. It is not DX Racer's fault, class 4 is the best quality gas lift you can source in China and it is very good. We use them on every chair except the Max.
There is no such thing as a "class 5" gas lift. Now, sure, you may be able to use a class 4 gas lift for years without a problem even if it is out of spec, that is normal. Out of spec does not mean an automatic fail. But we went to Korea to source a custom built heavy duty gas lift that is truly rated to 185 kg, or over 400 lbs. To the very best of my knowledge no other chair company has taken this step. So we can rate and warrant the Max for 400 lbs.
