Adding/Including Memories
I lost my dad last year (2023) and have been finding ways to include keepsakes/memories in my workstation. I've dabbled here and there with doing small woodworking projects and attempted a wrist rest from a piece of oak I picked up with him from my great uncles wood shop. I milled it to fit a 60% keyboard as I hadn't decided what keyboard I would be using it on and thought that's where most of my wrist would be in contact even typing on a full keyboard. I gave it a torched/burn appearance as I really was lost in what to do. I found an old shell casing from going hunting with my dad in my hunting pack and decided to imbed it into the end of the wrist rest so it would just have a little difference and a small story behind it as well. I have other things around my workstation from family and friends, but it just feels a little more special having worked on it and adding something small that has a memory for me to it. (Purple was my grandmothers favorite color and I have kinda now...

Review: AKRacing Overture Series Gaming Chair
Pros: ++ Tall back to rest head against for long sessions. ++ Includes two pillows for head and back. ++ Chair material is comfortable. (Not too firm and not too soft. Just right.) ++ Good instructions and easy construction.
Cons: -- Heavy initial out gassing of material. (Took 3-4 weeks before the smell dispersed.) -- No padding on arm rests! -- Bolstered sides limit seat space and are too firm. (Bad for larger people and may get in the way if you like to tuck your leg under the other leg.) -- Head pillow is limited how far up and down it can be adjusted due to seat design.
Other thoughts: As the review shows, the arm rests don't have padding which I would recommend. Since they are going for a racing seat look-a-like, the racing seat design limits the chair. The holes the "seat belts" would go through, aren't long enough to give you a good range of height adjustment for the head pillow. The bolstered sides just aren't needed for a computer chair and just get in the way.
Again, good design for a car seat where restraint is vital, but should have been optimized for freedom and comfort since it's for a computer.
Overall I am happy with this chair. I can sit in it comfortably with the seat up or laid back. I'm 6'2" so the head pillow adjustment and bolstered sides can be a problem for larger or taller people like me. Would I buy this chair again? No. If you can take anything away from this review, it would be the following: If you do decide to get a higher dollar computer chair, try and sit in them or a similar one first or find a friend who has one. That's the best advice I can give you and other people would agree.
Hope you're not discouraged too much by this review, just know what you're buying by actually trying it out first is all. Happy gaming.
Just wanted to say I do enjoy the chair (AKRacing Overture Series Gaming Chair.) My complaints are my own, but definitely not enough to want to return and no buyers remorse. Just letting people know what to watch out for.
I do hope to see padded arm rests and more adjustability with the head pillow like the back pillow does in the future.
Anyways, keep up the good work. Thanks for being apart of Massdrop.
