I don't have much to compare this knife to. It does seem to be well made. It was pretty stiff to open when I first got it. I almost could not get it open. I was looking for a grove on the blade to help open it but there isn't one. Either the knife is a little more broken in now or my finger is getting stronger. It still takes some force to get it open now but I can manage. So far I've only used it to open letters and boxes. I have another knife from Drop which has a 4" blade. I made a mistake buying that knife; it is just too long to carry every day. This knife with the 3" blade is much more convenient
Basically a nice inexpensive EDC knife. There are two things that I'd like to see improved. #1 - the blade isn't centered in the frame. #2 - the lock requires two hands to release the blade for stowage - it's pretty stiff. But for an inexpensive knife, it's becoming a favorite for everyday tasks.
I was hoping it was a carbon copy of the last S.E.R.E. I bought
This one is made in China instead of Japan and it is a nice assisted opening but it doesn't have the skin lock/open option.
I can't rate whether or not it holds up because I just received it.
Hopefully the quality of steel is higher than any Chinese knife I have previously ever seen.
Ask me again in 6 to 8 weeks ...
Wanted a tough knock-around folder for camping and this handles the role very well. Blade came very sharp, assisted action is good - opens very easily and with a resounding “snick!” - bit awkward for me to close 1-handed, but can be done.
Overall very happy - I’m confident it will handle the abuses of camping for years - while allowing the display queens to all stay safely at home!
Bought the 3” combo for my wife. She absolutely loves it. She adamantly stated she didn’t understand why I wanted an EDC. But after seeing how convenient it was when mine finally came in, she wanted her own. Bought the smaller combo version for her for use in the garden. The serrated edge is great for cutting through small green stems. The best part is, now I don’t need an excuse when I want to buy another one!
Pros:
Sharp out of the box
Serrated edge is great for multifunction
Smaller profile is great as an edc
Cons:
Action is a little stiff
With stiff action, you can’t close it one-handed
I mean it's an assisted folder so the action is meh. I will admit that the sound is great when you open it though. Very sharp profile out of the box. With the steel quality, we'll see how long it lasts but I'm satisfied. There's a lot of steel nerds out there, so I know some scoff at this knife. For what it is, it's a great tool.
This knife is a workhorse. It is a bit chunky but that is what I expected. It deploys flawlessly and is ready for the task at hand. It will be carried regularly in my daypack when I am out in the woods.
