So, what is the best chair in the opinion of anyone reading this question.
By best chair I don't mean a five pound chair that you carry around car camping, and use in a campground, or picnic area, or anywhere else; I mean what is the best chair that you could use to take on a backpacking trip?
Obviously the chair must be light, and compact, probably two pounds or less, but at the same time be able to support at least 250 pounds, and preferably 300, so as to have added durability over the long haul.
I know a lot of hikers are short, and slightly built guys, in the sub 200 pound range, as well as most women hikers, but there are some of us guys who are over 6 feet tall, and up in the 225 to 250 range, and some above that from what I have seen.
There have been many times where I was hiking, backpacking, kayaking, where I would have liked to have a chair to sit in while at my camp.
Usually I had to try and find a log, or to sit on some big rocks, or boulders, but that kind of got old after awhile, and there is no real comfortable position with back support.
Sometimes you can set up your hammock as a chair if you are a hammock camper, but probably still not as good as a chair.
Sometimes after taking my boots off when crossing streams, I would have liked to have had a chair that would allow me to be positioned in a more elevated position while pulling my socks and boots back on my feet.
If I could not find the right log, or rock, then laying on the ground not so efficient, or comfortable.
Even if you are in good shape, putting on your shoes gets more difficult with age. LOL
FInally, what could be better than eating your supper, and then taking a nap in the chair while in a scenic and remote spot,; with only the sounds of the wind blowing through the trees, the singing and chirping of the birds and squirrels, and the babbling of a brook to lull you to sleep?
I would love to hear back from all of you on suggestions, and recommendations for a great backpacking chair.

MsilverhammerThe Helinox Chair zero is the ideal backpacking chair weighing in at a little less than a pound. It packs down to about the size of a 32 oz nalgene bottle. Personally I carry a Helinox chair one which is just a touch heavier, but I find it more comfortable as it sits at right around the right height for me. Helinox has the backpacking chair market sewed up, but you pay for the quality. The Chair One and Zero are both on the expensive end of the chair market.

Leaf420Yes, I have looked at the Helinox/Big Agnes chairs, and they are definitely lightweight.
I did find a chair called the Duralounge, with a much taller backrest, that goes about 2.2 pounds, and 300 pound capacity.

Thanks!

Msilverhammer Dude, stop the copypasta. Seriously, you don't need to place these same exact posts on every thread here.

MsilverhammerBecause you are spamming this entire comment section and review section. Don't think nobody noticed that you start off looking earnest asking opinions and every time someone bites, you just throw in a plug (complete with amazon links) for some chair unrelated to the one this page is for. If you aren't making money as a salesman for that guitar chair or whatever, you certainly seem like you are. Seriously, posting once would be enough, I doubt anyone would have a problem with it, but you did it like 20 times.

tyler256but I guess more importantly, it makes it hard for me to see what people actually want to say about this product because your gigantic posts are on so many threads here it drowns out everyone else's conversations.

tyler256Wow, you caught me, yes I confess, I am behind the JFK assassination! LOL
Well, all kidding aside, I'm sorry that you don't like me asking questions, but I have received many informative and friendly replies from some of the other less cynical members, so not everyone of the same opinion as you.
Not everything in life is a conspiracy!
I see nothing wrong with asking questions, and receiving opinions from others who may have used a type of product that I am interested in purchasing.
This is a good way to learn, by asking, for, and sharing information.
I am not affiliated with any company, or organization, so posting video reviews, which are already in the public domain, and not produced by me, as well as posting links to descriptions about certain products, are for informational purposes only.
I guess if you are not personally interested in replying, or sharing then you just simply won't reply and share.
Have a nice day!

MsilverhammerYour post asked for advice and recommendations for a good backpacking chair. Turns out you have already decided which chair is right for you, and your reply really came across as a sales pitch. That's the main reason I didn't reply, there was no room for discussion left. Unfortunately this post has devolved into a circus and I can't find out how to mute conversations I'm part of. I really just wanted to talk about chairs.

MsilverhammerPS. I carry a 65l pack and am on the opposite side of the spectrum from ultralighter. I would never consider putting something that big in my pack. The bulk and weight is too much for me, it takes up way more real estate than I'm willing to sacrifice for a non-sleep comfort item.

Leaf420A circus?!
Were you denied your nap today, or something really serious like that?
Something really bad must have happened today for you to be so upset, about something so trivial!
Let's think rationaly about this for a second...
A Massdrop member asks his fellow Massdrop members what they think about camping chairs, and because he references a couple of videos, (that he did not produce) and an Amazon product, (that he does not sell), he is accused of spamming.
His honest question and attempt to stimulate an intelligent conversation has now been categorized as a sales pitch, spam, and now even a circus?
I have to chuckle and just shake my head about how bent out of shape the thin skinned keyboard warriors get when something that irks them in even the slightest way comes across their screen.
Well I guess that since this attempt at an intelligent discussion and conversation has now devolved into a circus, then I have to ask...is that a three ring circus, or maybe the classy Cirque du Soleil?
Thanks to all of you nice Massdrop members who took the time to politely respond with great information, by sharing your experiences, purchases, and recommendations about camping chairs!!

Leaf420Oh, so there is room for discussion?!
Now in retrospect, wasn't that really easy?
Thanks for taking the time to share your opinion.
