Allegory Goods The Bard Fountain or Rollerball Pen

Based in Chicago, Allegory Handcrafted Goods is a small company dedicated to making products from smart-sourced, sustainable materials. Crafted from midnight sinker cypress and ancient kauri wood, the Bard fountain pen is fitted with a medium stainless steel nib made in Germany by JoWo. It accepts international standard cartridges and converters, while the rollerball model accepts Schmidt-style rollerball refills. Equipped with a roller-wheel clip that slides easily and holds tight to a shirt pocket, the threaded cap is lightweight for a balanced feel when posted. With each pen sold, a tree-planting donation is made to the National Forest Foundation.

Ancient kauri wood comes from 2,000-year-old trees that have been preserved by peat bogs in northern New Zealand. This wood is typically found under farmland, which is ethically excavated and turned back to its natural state after the wood is harvested. Midnight sinker cypress is a uniquely American product. Before the Industrial Revolution, loggers floated timber downriver for processing at a temporary sawmill. Some of the logs sunk along the way and were preserved under silt at the bottom of the riverbed for more than a century.
