good extra belt pocket
good pouch, outer straps don't get much use, but having an extra pocket on my belt is nice.

Remains to be seen
The leather is floppier and thinner (perhaps less rugged) than I expected. The straps are particularly thin - I’m not convinced that these will hold up to heavy use. It will be fine, probably, for carrying keys, phone, and some knickknacks, but not for tools or anything else substantial. I’ll give it some use and report back.

I like the feel, craftsmanship and material of this pouch and It's just large enough to hold my wallet, the car keys and my Zippo or a diminutive Kaweco sport fountain pen.

As previously described, it's a bit too small to hold a cellphone but previous experiences with other pouches or messenger bags only served to demonstrate that it's best to keep a phone in a place without too many clasps or zippers- such as a pocket, because the caller will often hang up before you can answer his call. Therefore in my case the size isn't a disadvantage. Being made of leather I expect it to gather scratches and scuffs as time and usage goes and I think it will only make it more interesting to have.

Nice, but too dark for saddle
I like the overall look and feel, I just wish it wasn't as dark for saddle.

My grandmother always warned about the interesting hallucinations and long, uninterrupted periods of sleep my cold medicine would give me on an empty stomach, but, unfortunately, even an ample dosage of that yucky stuff only gave my the vague sense of spiders in my peripheral, and it was still pretty hard to get to bed. Despite all the teasing about fanny packs, this leather pouch isn't really a fanny pack: it's a side pouch. It has its benefits and its failures, but you can't really embrace or reject those traits as if it were a fanny pack. Good things first, the tool pouch does a satisfactory job holding stuff with the side strap. I much prefer that than to holding my pens and notebook in my front pocket and literally having it fall out every time I bend over to grab or lift something. And the fabric of the strap is certainly more reliable at retain those things; bending over, jumping jacks, vigorous thrusts–still stayed on. They (my pens and notebook) especially like to jump out into puddles or crevices that are hard to get into. I like the middle stitch that segregates the items, too. And I don't need a side pouch to hold my knives or multitools, because that can clip onto the side strap. That by itself is worth the purchase. But, on the topic of my notebook, the leather pouch is small. As they said, 5"x5"x1", so don't expect a pocket notepad to fit in there, and don't expect your phone to fit in there, either. Not even if they're 5", unless that's the one thing you're holding: the kind-of rigid nature of the leather (at least compared to a fabric or some polymers) makes those dimensions very finite. Although, I think it was probably the best compromise between storage and ergonomics Allegory could offer–I put my wallet in there with a few dozen quarters, and it started to weight on my hip–I think that's issue right there is really emblematic of the huge flaw of the pouch premise. In a very fundamental sense, the whole idea is very un-ergonomic. I wear a multitool pouch, and it was fine with that, because it was just a tiny multitool. And it was actually small enough that it was pretty discreet (and I think that was largely the benefit of the multitool being literally just a tiny bit in excess of my belt's height), so I could actually wear my multitool pouch in public without feeling embarrassed. The idea of a side pouch just doesn't scale large enough to have a super broad application beyond the idea of that specialized multitool pouch. Dear God, I can't wear this in public. I would rather wear a fanny pack in public, because at least that would be a fashion statement (and also hide my erections). I love wearing my multitool in public, because I can compensate for my impotency in a much more polite way than a loud car. This pouch is great for warehouse use, because I just need a multitool, pen, and sharpie (and I'm conveniently excluding the tape gun), but I can't really wear this for the actually-industrial environments which would warrant general ugliness, because I need to hold actual tools, not utensils. The pouch is an unfortunate compromise of literally every extremity, but it kind of finds its own niche that I miraculously fit. It satisfies one of my needs. I don't love it so much that it replaces my multitool pouch like a was looking forward to, but I also really, really hated dropping my pencils for the fifth time today. And, eh, I didn't really need to take notes, anyway. Also, that girth definitely de facto adds to your wasteline. I have fairly broad shoulders, but, even then, wearing this pouch makes me feel kind of androgynous. Not that I care too much, but the difference between this thing and a fanny pack is that doesn't evoke the image of a kind kangaroo mother's belly pouch. And the fact that this is 5"x5"x1" doesn't really do a good job emphasizing how much it sticks out. I would assume with the "chocolate" color, it would be more discreet, but even then. Also, also, I just think Allegory's business model is weird. They have this passion for leather, artisanry, ostensible quality, but then they have experiments like this. The leather making of this pouch, while nice, seemed contradictory to the intention of this product: firstly, as I briefly touched on, the leather seemed like a more durable but less practical choice compared to a polymer, and, secondly, Allegory mentioned in the discussions how the inside wasn't lined to cut down price–but, why would you cut down price for a leather-artisanal-quality-free-range anything? Leather and artisanry seem like things that conservative tools like wallets and belts have a market for–and consumers seem to like it; odd-ball experiments like this are received better by consumers when they're cheap and noncommital, like stuff made with cheap polymers. But artisanal, leather-made odd-ball experiments? I like it, but it seems misguided. After all, do you guys at Allegory test your stuff before you commit? Because it seems unrealistic that you would tolerate a design with the detachable belt loop just because someone in the other belt pouch thread mentioned it. That feature would inevitably become a nuisance if you didn't superglue the buttons like me, lol. Also, sorry, Allegory, but I'm not gonna wash my pouch down with sandalwood whatever. I guess you have to be a leatherhead to get into the whole leather game, huh? Or own a BDSM club. No judgment.

And the bit about how a fanny pack could conceal any awkward tent pitching. And the loud car part? Replace that with trucks and lift kits on top of being loud and you practically have the mating call for my hometown - bonus points if you've got your favourite outdoor gear company decals on the rear glass (including brands of shotguns).
