Shame that Allegory doesn't understand there are countries outside the USA. If this is the way the company views the world, something tells me I should spend my money elsewhere

HMK1HMK - Shipping restrictions are placed by Massdrop. You'll have to touch base with them to understand why international shipping isn't available on some drops, but I think it has to do with the rates they are able to get for various countries.
Thanks, Chad

AllegoryGoodsChad, when the drop page reads "[Domestic] orders will be shipped by the Vendor", that tells me that you (as Vendor) have said to Massdrop "Thanks, guys, but we'll take care of the shipping here". In other words, what rates, choices and decisions have been quoted and made were ones which were quoted to Allegory and made by Allegory. I agree that Massdrop is astoundingly opaque when it comes to their shipping decisions at times, but don't try to sheet your own company's decisions back to them. I stand by my earlier comment that your company doesn't seem to appreciate that there's a world outside the United States

HMK1Hmk, the process goes like this: Massdrop provides us paid shipping labels with carrier and class already chosen. We match those to orders and handle the packing and handling ourselves. So no, we are not involved in those decisions. We ship worldwide on orders from our website. And proudly serve customers in dozens of countries.
I know from our experience that the cost of international shipping was often a source of conflict as well. So perhaps their decision to forgo offering it is a temporary measure while they work to provide lower rates. Again, you'll need to ask them.
Knowing the Massdrop team as I do I'm certain that customer experience was at the top of their priorities behind this decision.

AllegoryGoodsTo reply to the points in the order in which you made them: 1) At no time have I said (here) that Massdrop "doesn't value international business". There have certainly been occasions - when Massdrop has handled 100% of the shipping, rather than you or anyone else as the vendor - where I've had my doubts, but those doubts have been between me as the frustrated would-be customer and Massdrop as the putative shipper. Putting words into the mouth of a would-be customer is, I submit, a relatively strange way of trying to improve the customer experience.
2) As outlined in my earlier comment, this isn't about "[Massdrop]'s decision to forgo offering [international shipping]", which as far as I'm aware they haven't done. There has been a level of opacity from Massdrop in many regards which really doesn't leave the would-be customer with a good aftertaste, but (as above), that's got nothing to do with this particular comment of mine. In other words, and I think this goes more broadly here, you're badly misstating the position. I made the point that this particular item isn't available internationally where other fountain pens are and have been. You've attempted to convert this into a discussion of the value that Massdrop (rather than Allegory) places on international customers. While that discussion may make you feel better, it's what we call a "strawman" as it has minimal connection with what I was talking about earlier.
3) You're welcome to talk down to me about what I'm simplifying and otherwise, but the bottom line truly is this: If there are two items (fountain pens, for the sake of the discussion) available online, one of which is able to be shipped internationally and the other of which is not, assuming everything else (aesthetics, price, quality, bla-bla-bla) is at least broadly identical, I can either buy the one I can receive or buy nothing at all. Given that Massdrop has been my first (and, to date, only) exposure to the Allegory brand, and that exposure has included a restriction on my ability to purchase items made by the brand (to say nothing of the strange interaction we've had here), my incentive to go to your website to take advantage of international shipping is comparatively low at present

HMK1When you open the conversation with saying that we don't think there are countries outside the US. And then openly say we are lying and/or passing the buck. All of which are incorrect, you can expect a thorough response. Our only aim here was to make sure we covered the issue completely, as the simple answer didn't seem to do. I apologise if I misunderstood or poorly summarized your position. I've removed that portion of my response.
To be clear, Allegory has not and will not place any restrictions on international shipping. But we stand by the decisions our partners make in an effort to better serve their customers. I know that Massdrop offers international shipping on some items. As for why this one isn't, you'll need to check with them.

HMK1We've now added international shipping as an option for this drop. Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

AllegoryGoodsI'm sure I can "expect a thorough response". I would have thought that "thorough" would involve a response to the issue/s I raised, rather than the ones you preferred to address. At no stage have I said you were lying, and my comments regarding buck-passing were because of your unwillingness to address the issues I raised.
We appear to have very different views of customer service, in addition to being worlds apart on a number of fundamental issues here. Coupled with my earlier points, I'm sure you can understand that your belligerent attitude, tone and willingness to misstate matters don't exactly endear the brand to me as one on which to spend my hard-earned
