I bought this product mainly because of the wood material sourced from my home country. I was a bit taken aback comparing the pen that arrived to me with the pictures featured on the product description page. and I’m not sure if I should be disappointed or not. So the wood on my pen isn’t as dark as the one in the pictures featured especially in contrast with the brass hardware. I don’t really mind the darker and more rugged look of the brass hardware but the one in the picture is shinily lathed, and mine actually looks a bit dirty, and I can spot marks resembling fingerprints.
The pen could write but a bit dry and thinly, and I could only write at a certain angle. I'm using Noodler's 54th Massachusetts ink, which is pretty thick, and it looked like only blueish water coming out. So I figured I'd really press down and make some few long lines. It apparently worked and it writes really pleasantly now.
One awkward thing about the pen is, because (probably most of) the body is wood, and the cap is all brass, the cap is actually heavier than the body, so when you post the cap it becomes really back-heavy. Certain grips might work but since you need to screw to post you probably wouldn't want to post the cap anyway.
Speaking about the screwing, the thread inside the cap is smaller than the pitch on the body so it's a bit shaky. Not really a problem, just make sure you secure it tightly.
Still a cool product. I carry it around a lot now in my jeans. The clip can only stick to thicker pants (like jeans). I also appreciate the leather sleeve. Hopefully if they're making m ore of it they might consider these things.
