I don't like this portfolio! Each of the pockets seems to have no easily recognized purpose, but even worse, the snaps on the cover are SO FIRM that it's difficult to open and close without using two hands with elbow grease added in! It's not easy, no female could use it for certain, PLUS... I received a BLACK notebook rather than the BROWN one that I'd ordered. Is there any way to correct this error? I would return this thing if I had the order slip, packaging, and address label to send it to! I would NOT recommend this portfolio!!!
I've bought several Allegory products from MD/D and have not been disappointed. This A4 portfolio in cognac color is beautiful and durable. Looking forward to using it every day. Well worth its value considering I paid a bit more for a subpar quality Office Depot portfolio because I needed one in an emergency. That's the last time I buy a faux leather one from there.
The padfolio came as ordered with correct color and stitching. Quality is very good. Nice stitching and seems. I think it will break-in and patina nicely.
vinswissDon't understand your issue. Leather is heavy when backed to give it reliable form, also vegetable tanned leather is soft to the touch, so of course it does scratch/patina easily. The first scratches suck but then the leather acquires that travelled companion look as you care for it with leather cream and scratches fade into a weathered patina. If the leather was chrome-tanned, it would be tougher but also look more fake and not have the soft feel. Vegetable tanned leather is exactly what I want.
Two thing I would have liked: a core to the flap so it is stiffer. Right now the flap seems too limp and makes it hard to pop open the snaps.
2nd would be to add about 1/2" extra material to the fold, so that you can slip a ultraportable notebook inside. Right now I cannot put my 13" HP Elitebook inside and close the snaps.
**FYI,
For the person who asked about leather type, I can say that it is avg. 1.6mm thick soft leather, so maybe top-grain. I see some minor imperfections, but since I got black, can't tell for sure if it is full-grain or top-grain.
