The latest in ALO Audio’s award-winning line of portable amplifiers, the redesigned Rx has been optimized specifically for use with in-ear monitors. It’s best paired with a high-end digital audio player, and hits the sweet spot with its low noise floor, excellent channel balance, and striking appearance. Made from CNC-machined aluminum, the enclosure is relatively tiny—measuring 2.3 by 3.6 inches—and anodized for a handsome retro finish. Venting holes lining the side panels allow for heat dissipation, and emit a nice orange glow when the LED power or charging indicators are on.
Note: At checkout, you’ll have your choice of colors between Black and Gold.
On the top panel, you’ll find a simple analog line in and headphone jack, both in 3.5-millimeter formats, along with a chrome-colored metal volume knob over a plastic element-type potentiometer. More reliable than carbon-based variants, the plastic pot is also quieter and less susceptible to wear and channel imbalance over time. Finally, the new Rx charges via a microUSB port (5V DC from USB bus), an update from the 9 or 12V AC charging circuitry of its predecessors.
