With its blue, black, and silver look, the Alpina Alpiner Quartz GMT watch won’t look out of place at the summit or the dinner table. In terms of functionality, it has everything you’d expect out of a Swiss-made Alpina, and then some Read More
These prices on their Alpina Spotlight are horrible. I was a huge fan of Alpina and Frederique Constant (their sister brand) watches, but won't buy them now unless they're at least 70% off now, which is not hard to find. In terms of quality, both brands gave me maintenance issues higher than average when compared to other brands. Been a few years since I've owned one, so I'm not sure if their QC has improved. However, these prices on Drop are a joke!
DeeanI recently acquired 3 Alpinas at these sort of prices, new watches with "aftermarket" warranty. Similar to drop, often that is the warranty they provide; I totally agree about the discount that can be obtained; but I guess it does depend if the model is popular or sought after. The three models I purchased I feel were runouts, and not the most popular colours; but for me I actually really like them;so it is the luck of the draw. I must admit these models here with this Drop don't appear to be the most popular, I mean this Alpiner would be a good deal if auto, not quartz, the Heritage Diver is PVD bronze and that is not popular, although it wouldn't bother me. But maybe that is because Alpina is currently one of my favourite br styles. I am not the biggest Frederique Constant fan but then they do make mainly dress watches; not a lot of call for that here where we are decked out in shorts and 'T' shirts 24/7. Maybe the QC is better now Citizen has acquired these sister companies.
Biggest problem is when you have bought one of these nice Alpinas at these heavily reduced prices it is hard to consider anything under 50% discount .
Sometimes when a Drop doesn't sell too well they do reduce the prices to meet the market. one can but hope. I'm with you at $400 it's a deal for me. I have handled one of these Alpiner models and they are very nice.
Does this have a quickset GMT hand function, similar to Rolex, Omega, Grand Seiko and some higher end Casio? In other words is this a so-called 'travel GMT'?
BobrazIt is a simple GMT watch setting.
On the crown 3rd position, you set the time Hour and Minutes.
On the crown 2nd position, you set the date and the GMT hand
You can then adjust the Bezel according to new time zones.
FSAlpinawatchesDoes that include jumping hour setup for the main hour hand? Similar to Rolex, Omega, Grand Seiko, and not similar to ETA based GMT movements?
Love this watch, having three Alpinas how could I not!! Just perfect for me.But still like a bit of a bigger discount ,expect a tad more on Drop. All three offerings are excellent watches, especially the Heritage Diver, I have a Seastrong gmt quartz bracelet which is great and weighs in at 50% of the auto 300, and cost a lot less than it as well.
But if you're happy with the price Alpina will not disappoint.
