Good materials, awkward size
Like the other reviews say, this thing is massive which is a good thing and a bad thing. Perfect if you need a bag to throw-in a weekend's worth of clothes for the cottage but way to much space to be used as an everyday laptop bag (which admittedly was the use-case I purchased it for). The build is solid though, no worries about stabbing through the sides with a sharp corner notebook and it looks nice enough that you want to keep all dirt and dust off of it. If you plan on using this for school I would recommend something else even though the laptop sleeve is perfect, the main pouch is just too deep and to get all of your textbooks in you'll be stacking them on-top of each other. But since your laptop is probably longer then an 11 inch long textbook, the extra few inches the stacked textbook is pressing against the edge of the laptop is just an awkward height and makes me nervous that I'm wrecking the edge of both. Other than that, I've been caught out in a heavy downpour and the angled 'lid', for lack of a better term, keeps the water beading off the bag and my electronics dry. Perfect water resistance and stylish enough for getting hopping on and off public transit with a walk a few blocks away but I wouldn't recommend it to walk across the country. Also, I haven't had much use for the drawstring around the inner edge of the opening but when you get it, tighten it slightly so you don't have awkward gaps the 'lid' doesn't cover well and it helps bead water since you can tighten the buckles more for a steeper angle. Enjoy! :D

Very spacious
Used this backpack on multiple trips and it served me well. No complaints other than I somehow lost one of my buckles and it doesn't seem like there is any way to get a replacement.

I don't have a lot of experience with backpacks, but I've mostly been using Filson and Frost River for my briefcase/tote/duffle style bags. I wanted a more affordable option for an occasional travel backpack and so far this has met my expectations. The material and construction seem good and the bag was comfortable to wear. It holds quite a bit of stuff depending on how tight you clamp down the top. My only complaints having now used this for a few weekend trips and a long 2 week trip to the UK+Norway: I wish it had more quick access external compartments e.g. a water bottle on the side, and maybe a front zippered pocket. The one at the side is just large enough for a few cards/keys and the one on the top flap is larger, but not suitable to stuff with things since it weighs down the flap. Speaking of which, the closure method for the backpack works fine, but isn't the quickest to get access to. If you intend to access the bag contents frequently, probably go for a zippered backpack instead. The laptop compartment works well (I have a 14" Dell). There is a zippered compartment on this, but it's so far inside that I honestly haven't used it at all. I've had the bag sit outside in the drizzle and the water did not get in, so the 1000D nylon does appear to be water resistant. It's great for the price and for casual use. More serious backpackers will probably be looking at other makers anyway.

Nice construction, solid feeling materials, looks great (and it's got duck lining sooo yeah). One issue is that the straps feel a bit close to my neckline, and when riding a bike for example, the straps actually jam into my neck a bit. It is very comfortable and practical for just walking around though. Good buy for <$50
