Hey everyone, KBParadise wants to see this succeed for the community and has decided to buy in for 300 sets of keycaps to help lower the MOQ for us. So, tell your friends how great Matias switches are and we can push this over the tip.
And big thanks to KBP :D
AlexPkHow about the "high MOQ per color option for this drop."
When we hit 200 (which we will very likely now) is this going to be an issue?
When we do everyone will have different colors.
In the spirit of supporting Alps, I have joined the Drop. In the future, I hope that Tai-Hao will consider the following:
1. Add options for a stepped CapsLock, 1.75x Right Shift, !.50x bottom-row mods, and a 7.00x Spacebar.
2. Add options for blanks.
3. Produce Alps-mount sets in PBT. Even blank PBT would be welcome.
consolationThanks for the good news. I admire the design of the Granite set, I like Alps switches, and I prefer the feel of PBT over that of other polymers. Unfortunately, I find it difficult to type on a flat profile such as DSA.
Hmm, looks like this drop isnt going to go through telling from the numbers :(
Next time (or if it is possible now?) to have a higher price with a lower MOQ. A lot of people (including me) want to see good quality Alps keycaps and would be willing to pay more. The MOQ just kills the drop.
If only this was PBT instead of ABS, I would've backed a dump truck full of money to Massdrop to buy them. Doubleshot PBT Alps keycaps are like the golden goose, I swear.
VermillionI don't know why they don't update the Description with the information they post in the Discussion. Alex already posted this information in bits and pieces throughout the Discussion.
There must be some rule that only touched up low res glamour shots can be posted in the Description. A simple thing like a full high res shot of the underside of all the keys, as ugly as it would look, would answer most of the questions people have. Side by side shots of V60 Matias keys with the same keys from this set. Same with Dell AT101w keys.
What we know so far is that these fit fine on a V60 Matias.
From that and this: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=66875.0
We know that all the stabilized keys except the space bar will probably work on an Dell AT101W.
For the Infinity the space bar will probably work. There are some pictures here, http://www.notoperator.com/2015/05/26/infinity-keyboard-building-my-own-mechanical-keyboard/
An Alps space bar with Costar stabilizers. The rest of the stabilized keys on an Alps Infinity are also Costar so these will not fit. The only 3rd party modifiers for Infinity Alps are here https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=70817.0
V60 Matias, all keys fit.
Dell AT101W, all keys Except Space bar probably fit.
Infinity Alps, stabilized keys won't work, space bar probably will.
Now take the sample set back from the engineer who is enjoying them and take some pictures of the underside of all the stabilized keys. Find an Infinity Alps and try putting the keys on that. Find a Dell AT101W and try putting the keys on that.
A0.Canother fear i have about the AT101W is the caps lock. it's stepped and the switch lines up with the tab switch. seems like that means this caps lock may not fit (unless it's also offset like that).
By any chance, will add-on kit (e.g. 7u spacebar, 125u L_Shift, 1.75u R_Shift, ISO Enter) those offered in a previous GeekHack groupbuy be available? A few more keys will make this set a lot a lot more usable and loved by all.
Just a question here for ALL the hardcore experts in the current world of Alps Keyboards;
Is there a NEW all Alps Keyboard with at least 104 keys being sold anywhere on the web?
I don't mean Matias's version.... so please leave that one out of this discussion.
So depressing that the current manufacturer of Alps based 104 keyboard's is Matias. Hate his casing and the cheapo printed key-caps that wear away.
Was looking for a decent but ultra conservative 104 key keyboard that could use these ABS key-caps easily without any major modifications.
Such as it is to be an Alps fanatic and being surrounded by the dreaded Cherry MX sickness - 24/7 : (
ElrickI hear you. I do have a collection of various mech (mostly full size) keyboards (Topre, NMB space invader switch, Alps (including the Northgate Omnikey Ultra), and Cherry MX). Indeed, some of the best keyboards (e.g.using authentic Alps switches) are no longer made. Like many of the ALPS fanatics out there, I too have managed to purchase (ebay) the highly coveted/elusive blue ALPs based keyboard (Leading Edge DC-2014), and put those switches into a modern keyboard (KBP V80). Yes Blue ALPs is by far the best ALPs switch ever made. Smooth... I too wish there were more ALPs keyboards (and keycaps). Pictures below.
valiantDon't Matias boards have non-standard bottom rows though? I'd love to get one of these sets for my Tactile Pro—but in their "wisdom", Matias decided to have only a Windows key on the left and only a "menu" key on the right, changing the widths of all the caps around them.
AnderI think it depends on if you got a board from Matias or a board with Matias switches. I got an Infinity 60% with Matias switches and with a 'standard layout'. It appears to mach this bottom row layout. There was an option for different bottom row layouts, but those would be harder to find keycaps for. It does appear that Tactile Pro has a different bottom row though. Not sure the sizing from looking at it though. It appears to be following the standard mac layout even on their windows keyboards. Not sure why they went that way, but if they offered mac keys, it'd probably work for you. I'm fortunate I got windows layout despite having a mac, so I'm just gonna leave off the windows key.
