Altra King MT 1.5 Trail Shoes

One of the most aggressive trail shoes in Altra’s collection, the King MT 1.5 shoes are designed to provide superior traction off the beaten path. They feature a redesigned mesh upper that’s tough enough to take on rough terrain without breaking down. The Altra Ego midsole enhances the responsiveness for better energy return on each foot strike. Vibram’s MegaGrip outsole works with the strategically positioned Trailclaw canted lugs to enhance traction during steep uphill climbs and downhill descents. As with all Altra shoes, these come with the company’s proprietary Zero Drop platform and FootShape toe box to ensure an ideal weight balance from heel to forefoot and a natural toe splay for comfort and stability.

Altra was born in the back room of a Wasatch Mountains running store, where owner Golden Harper met countless runners who complained of knee pain, shin splints, and other injuries from traditional pointed toe boxes and thick, heavy heels. A competitive runner himself, Golden began experimenting with shoe alterations to solve his customers’ problems. By melting the outsoles (in his trusty toaster oven!), he was able to remove the excess heel elevation for a more natural, relaxed foot position. The new platform design was dubbed Zero Drop.
