Not a great deal because of the shipping costs. Altra's website sells them for slightly more and with free shipping.

It says the uppers are "mesh", does that mean these shoes would drain well if used for stream crossings? Looks like they would have good traction and grip on wet slippery rocks when wading across streams.

What is the difference in fit between the women's and men's fit? the length of my foot is 24.13 cm, and it seems like a women's size 8 would be a better fit for me. Any guys who purchased a women's shoes rather than men's?

I find the male altra's too wide in the toe box. I have narrow feet and have two pairs of female altras that fit great (add 1.5 to your size)

Just FYI - I looked for these online and noticed that your savings on here is only about $12.00 if you buy anywhere else right now alot of places have these on sale so I can only imagine they are getting ready to bring out a new design. Many people complained about the small toe sides blowing out or wearing out so I imagine they will hopefully fix this problem. Just always check online elsewhere before buying here as nothing is returnable unless it came broken or defective which makes this place less appealing for deals

Great question. Think of a .5 as a “half update” and a .0 as a complete update where we overhaul the whole shoe. We go from version 1 to 1.5 to 2 to 2.5 to 3 etc... the Lone Peak is now on version 4.0 which only means that the Lone Peak has been around for more years relative to the KingMT. Hopefully that makes sense!

Is the upper firmer with more lateral support than the Lone Peak? Does this shoe have a rock plate?

The upper on the king MT is beefier than the lone peak upper. This shoe was made for bushwhacking so there are additional overlays on the upper that not only make it more durable but more supportive as well. There is a rock plate in the King MT but it’s not sandwiched between two layers of EVA like in the lone peak. On the king MT, the rock plate sits between the outsole and the midsole. The lone peak fit is much more relaxed compared to the king.

Thanks, AltraRunner. How does the sizing compare to Lone Peak 3.5? I find women’s size 10 is good for me, although a narrower heel would be good. I’ve heard the Mt King is narrower in the forefoot - is that right?

Can’t we go back to the days of just three choices of Altra trail runners: superior, lone peak, Olympus? All these different styles are confusing and hard to find at retailers. I just can’t make myself buy a pair of shoes I’ve never tried on

Just wondering about sizing as you say the Lone Peak fit (which I currently have) is much more relaxed than the King. Should I order a different size to the size I wear in Lone Peaks and Olympus (I wear the same size in both). Also, I ordered a men's shoe in order to get a wider toe box but I am wondering if that was a good idea and I should have bought a women's fit as these are designed specifically to fit women's feet? Thanks

don't buy altras you haven't tried on before. their fit changes from year to year and you'll be stuck with a shoe you can't return.
