Is it only the Blue model that's available for pre-order? Had my eye on the Bronze model.
*edit: Pre-ordered the Blue model for now. Hopefully if the Bronze model gets offered again I'll be able to change my order from Blue to Bronze.
Realsteel12I kinda thought that was maybe the case, to indicate batches during production....but then it seemed weird that the numbers on the bolsters didn't match the liners, or eachother?
At any rate, no complaints, mine all fit together with eachother great either way. Just made me curious 😁
Really happy with this knife, and it was an incredible deal price-wise for the quality, thanks!
That's true... And most, myself included, leave our reviews based around initial impressions, or at most after a teardown, but rarely do we come back months later with a follow up.
Maybe that's something we all should be trying to do a little more of 👍
yup, plus you have to account for the final grind of the knife, which potentially will be softer than the non-knife portion after its final grind, polish and sharpening, assuming the initial heat treat is fully uniform throughout the knife already. this is why i always take my knives out of tempering about half an hour earlier than recommended (plus i dont make 'hard use' knives so the added toughness isnt really necessary)
but at least this isn't ZT's s35vn. initially a soft heat treat, and then burn that temper away with some poor grinding practices.
billc@reswright absolutely! the thin belts on that thing would go over this minor recurve without batting an eye, good call.
Still takes some practice to not overdo it with the belts, but a little practice on some cheap blades first, and it's a great option.
Even cheaper, and easier I think, is the spyderco SharpMaker. I often go to that for recurves. Quick and easy, with a microbevel option, and a faster learning curve 👍
@billc agreed man, this feels like the best deal I've gotten on a new knife in a looong time
These occasional "too good to be true" deals (over $120 less than big shops) with a delivery date a month off don't inspire confidence with me ! Good luck to prospective buyers it is quite a tempting discount, I just hope it doesn't get cancelled !
