Carrying a flashlight every day can be uncomfortable and harsh on your pockets. With this leather holster from American Bench Craft, you can carry your go-to torch in style Read More
Well made, I love the smell of leather and the way it wears overtime. Great product. The only drawback is that your light is exposed meaning the jagged portions of your light can damage things around you like your car’s finish if you are not careful.
I got this for a shorter light. Overall the concept is great and the leather / craftsmanship is spot on. Only problem is they left the bottom rivet exposed so it rubs directly on the head of the flashlight. Would have given it 5 stars if not for this issue.
The quality of material and workmanship is very good. I purchase three in black. They were all exactly alike in appearance and quality. I looked at their website and found some other nice products.
Made well but I don’t think it’s going to work well for me.
Made well but I don’t think it’s going to work well for me. My flashlight does not have a clip on it and I think you will need one to use this holster.
Good: Construction, price point, simple design
Bad: Really requires a light with a pocket clip (make sure it works with your light)
8/10, would impulse-buy again. I'll carry this bloody thing probably every day if I start carrying a clip light. I was really hoping this would be the holster that let me step up to a slightly larger light. It's not, but it's through no fault of the hardware.
First, fit, finish, and construction are great. Rivets aren't super tight, and the whole assembly's got just enough play in it to make fitting over various belt thicknesses, with different lights, work. Feels sturdy, just like a leather-and-rivets product ought to be. Edges aren't heavily sanded or burnished; at this price point, for a utilitarian product, that's just fine. It'll wear smooth with use.
Loose fit on a 3/4" light body, at first glance, but it tightens right up once you shove a belt through it. Perfectly acceptable. Fits a 1" diameter light body well. Probably can't go thicker, but 3/4" and 1" covers just about any light I could reasonable expect to EDC. Asking it to hold a 1/2" AAA light would be pretty unreasonable (Didn't stop me trying it, for science!).
Now, the downside: This really is designed primarily for lights with an integral clip. For lights with a flared head (like the one pictured), bezel-up carry is your only option - I don't trust a clip to hold the light in the holster against gravity.
Individual Lights:

Surefire G2X (1" body, 1.25" bezel)

The light's been carried for years with a Raven/RCS aftermarket pocket clip and rubber ring. Removed the ring before testing with the holster.
The light fits in the holster just fine, up to the bezel, but not firmly enough to keep a chair from popping it loose. With no clip to hold it in, it's a lost light waiting to happen. The store page for the light indicates it's designed specifically for clip lights (info missing on the DROP page, unfortunately), so I can't really fault the designers, but it's not great for my purposes.

LAPG Mini EDC (3/4")

Also tested with an LAPG pocket light (Mini EDC), which does have a clip. It's a 3/4" light. Seems to work really well, and the clip allows for bezel-down carry, which I prefer.
