This looks good, but it's limited because the plate voltage of the tubes is too low which doesn't use the tubes to their full capacity. Look for an amplifier that puts at least 100-200+ volts into the plates of the tubes for them to use their full capacity. You'll know by the large transformer. Yaquin MS23b is one example.
tim273I know that the plate voltage and transformer size is important when comparing tube power amps, but is it a factor phono preamp? I’ve never seen a phono preamp with massive transformers like in tube power/integrated amps.
For the price, the features of this thing are really impressive + the build quality (next cheapest thing I found was ~$500). At max volume, gain is upper 40's dB (phono) @ 0.6V rms? - correct me if I'm wrong.
Unlike WordsandMusic, I'm not a fan of it's appearance but if you like it, it's a great deal.
