Is there a sound card recommendation for using this microphone? I only ask cause i have a usb soundcard from Asus. but i found the drivers for the mic a little buggy.
If i wanted to get the most out of modmic what do you think would the best soundcard to use it?

massdrophumanAntLion has their own analog to USB dongle on this listing. I have a Sabrent that works perfectly. https://smile.amazon.com/Sabrent-External-Adapter-Windows-AU-MMSA/dp/B00IRVQ0F8
massdrophumanDo you plan to use the ModMic with any audiophile/studio headphones? If not, then the ModMic USB "adapter" (really just a small USB sound card with one headphone out and one mic in jack each) would be what you want.
If so, then you may want to pay more attention to the headphone specs than the mic specs (not that you should ignore the mic input, just that generally a USB soundcard that can handle quality headphones is likely to have at least a decent-enough mic input). For instance, because I use Sennheiser HD 650 headphones, I needed the USB DAC to be able to amplify the output signal enough to drive 300ohm impedence headphones. I also wanted good positional awareness in game, so I got the Soundblaster E5, which handles headphones with an impedence up to 600ohms and provides virtual surround on its headphone out. There are a lot of choices for USB DACs/ADCs/sound cards, so it really does depend on what features you want. If you don't need the DAC/headphone amp to be portable, then you can save some money compared to the E5 or possibly get better sound quality with a desktop DAC.
If you have an idea of the features you need, maybe if you would list them here I or someone else could give you better suggestions?

TipsyMacScotchslurpenThanks for the reply. I actually ordered the modmic 4.0 when it first came out. So i still have it. I currently use it with Xonar U7 USB(https://www.asus.com/us/Sound-Cards/Xonar_U7/) sound card and Philips Fidelio X1.
When i would game with microphone I used to have friends tell me i was breaking up and i would have to really tweak the gain and volume settings on the xonar. Its been a while since i used it recently. But i remember having to keep the volume gain on the mic at 95 or 91 out of 100. When i kept it lower people seemed to hear me better but then they would say i was too low. and they would have to manually increase my voice in there voice app.
So i believe in the quality of the mic. I just wondered if my xonar just had poor mic drivers and that maybe a different soundcard could use it better.
I also saw modmic 5 on his website now but not sure if that's much better than 4.0.
massdrophumanThe way I understand it, the ModMic 5 is really just a more modular combination of the uni- and omnidirectional ModMic 4s in one product. Quoted from Antlion's website:
"Simply put, there isn’t any difference in the mic quality beyond the fact the ModMic 5 has BOTH Omni and Uni-directional mics in a single unit. The ModMic 4 made you pick between the two, so you’d have to use a completely different mic if you wanted to switch from noise canceling to high quality modes. The ModMic 5 has both, but they are both the exact same microphone."
Sadly, I don't have much experience with the mic inputs of soundcards past the occasional co-op or team multiplayer game. People liked the sound of my Sennheiser GAME ONE headset's mic through the Soundblaster E5, but I haven't yet played a multiplayer game using the ModMic 5. I don't know how the 5 compares to the mic in the Sennheiser headset, unfortunately. The whole reason I bought it was because I knew Sennheiser made good professional mics, and when I was blown away by the amazing sound quality of the headphones I ended up on my audiophile journey. Hopefully the combination of HD 650 headphones with the MM5 will net me a better headset than the GAME ONE, even if only by way of headphone sound quality.

TipsyMacScotchslurpenI haven't been playing games lately but one of these days i will buy one of those cheap usb soundcards like a few people have mentioned and i will see if the mic settings work better than my xonar u7. I just didn't like that i had to really tweak my xonar to get it working well.
